HAAR
This is one of the most frustrating kinds of weather to affect Britain, though fortunately, only very limited areas are likely to experience it. The most likely places to suffer from it are the east coastal fringes of Scotland & N.E. England.
It is most likely to occur during settled conditions in summer, when the airflow is from an easterly quarter, causing warm air to flow across a much colder North Sea. The haar may stick to a narrow coastal strip & it may be possible to walk into sunshine & blue skies. At other times, it may penetrate further inland, particularly into Firths & forecasters have a very difficult job giving precise information. The haar is invariably shallow & large ships at sea may have their masts sticking out of it.The most frustrating occasions are when haar occurs during a heatwave, with 95% of the country having wall to wall sunshine & temperatures up to 25 to 35,while some places on the east coast struggle to 12 or 13.

Yesterday's disappointing weather left me with no alternative but to watch 2 Cup Finals!  First of all, congratulations to the local team for their well-deserved victory against Dundee United. It was one of the most entertaining matches I have ever seen!  Pity there had to be a loser, especially with some of my family at Celtic Park being United fans.  To switch channels soon after 5pm & find Hull City already 2 up on Arsenal at a sunny Wembley was the shock of the day. My son-in law is an avid " red & white" supporter & only found peace of mind during extra time against Hull City.
Despite the persistent cloud here yesterday, while the bulk of the U.K. had sunny, warm weather, we were at least limited to very small rainfall amounts. Tyndrum caught over 15mms.

TODAY'S FORECAST FOR PITLOCHRY

Hopefully, a cloudy morning should become a brighter & warmer afternoon, though the best of what's going is likely to be close to the East Coast.  Best keep away from Western areas of the country where cloud & rain are likely to be fairly persistent, feeling the full effect of Atlantic fronts. Rain is not expected in Pitlochry during daylight hours.
Max. temp 16 or 17   Winds S 2 to 4      Lowest overnight temperature 9.

OUTLOOK---Changeable, with some cloud & rain on occasions, but also some brighter, warmer spells.
