There should be a good deal of dry weather during this period, with cloud well-broken & with some intervals of sunshine. Temperatures, however, will be on the low side for the start of June, mostly in the range 12 to 15 as a daytime maximum. No frost is expected.Winds will be generally light to moderate from the E or SE.
A ridge of high pressure will dominate the weather over Scotland during the period.

A little snow lying on Ben Vrackie ( with these temperatures, it could be March). It was only up to 7.2 at best yesterday---over 7 degrees below average. BUT, better things are on the horizon (see below). The morning is likely to see some further slight rain or drizzle, but this is slowly moving away south & the afternoon & evening should be dry, though little if any sunshine is expected. PERHAPS A RECORD-BREAKING COLD MAY DAY?
To date, the coldest day recorded in the Pitlochry area during the month of May, in records going back to 1976, is 6.5 degrees in 1982.
That figure could be broken today, with the current temperature(1145hrs) at just 5.7 & cloud & drizzle/light rain + a drift of air off a still cool North Sea expected for the rest of the day.

YESTERDAY IN PITLOCHRYFriday saw very little in the way of rain, though there wasn't much sunshine either 'till late in the day. Temperatures were still well down on normal mid-May averages.

High pressure is in charge today. A low E. of Iceland with its attendant cold front, will take over tomorrow & thereafter, there will be some days of cool, fresh NW winds. Summer is still on hold!

MEETING & GREETING WITH A "WEATHER COMMENT"
When I used to record the weather for the Met Office, it was considered important to give an accurate written description of the weather to support the facts & figures you were submitting (part of quality control )
A fair description of this morning's weather would thus have been something along the lines,
"Cloudy, odd spits of rain, very cool for May & a bit breezy"
After all, it was pretty much the same as yesterday morning & that temperature proved to have been colder than 29 out of the 31 days of March this year!!!
So I was a little bit surprised this morning, to be greeted by someone, looking at the sky, then remarking, "not bad, is it?"
Well, maybe not, had it been January or February!!
